The preparation behind HAVIKWAY also draws on years of practical work with technology, repair, web development and server administration. Those skills matter on a long expedition because independence, problem-solving and the ability to keep systems working can become as important as physical endurance.

The expedition in context
A journey designed to unfold over years, not weeks.
HAVIKWAY begins in Amsterdam and is intended to continue through Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia as conditions, borders and seasons allow.
The route is intentionally long-term. Instead of treating each country as a checkpoint, the expedition is designed to spend enough time on the ground to understand changing landscapes, local routines, border realities and the practical rhythm of moving through the world on foot.
Distance becomes physical again. A mountain pass, a border crossing, a village or a difficult weather system can shape an entire week.
Visas, safety, climate, logistics and local conditions can change the route. Adaptation is part of the expedition rather than a failure of planning.
Live tracking, journal entries, country notes, equipment updates and route changes become part of the same growing public archive.
