HAVIKWAY / LEGAL DONATION TERMS
SUPPORT THE JOURNEY

Donation
terms.

These terms explain how voluntary one-time and recurring financial contributions to HAVIKWAY are handled, what a donation does — and does not — provide, and how recurring support can be managed.

VERSION 1.0
LAST UPDATED 24 September 2026
CORE PRINCIPLE Support is voluntary.
Independence remains.

A donation supports HAVIKWAY and the wider expedition project, but it does not purchase ownership, control over editorial decisions, influence over the route, or a right to direct how individual expedition decisions are made.

Where HAVIKWAY offers a separate paid membership, commercial sponsorship or product/service transaction, that relationship should be clearly identified separately from a voluntary donation.

01

Nature of a donation

A donation is a voluntary financial contribution intended to support HAVIKWAY and its expedition-related activities.

Unless a separate offer explicitly states otherwise, a donation is not a purchase of goods or services and does not create a right to a specific commercial benefit in return.

NO OWNERSHIP OR ROUTE CONTROL Supporting HAVIKWAY does not give a donor authority over editorial, operational or route decisions.
02

One-time donations

A one-time donation is charged once through the payment method selected during checkout.

Before completing the payment, the donor should review the amount, currency and payment information shown on the checkout page.

A successful payment confirmation indicates that the selected payment provider has accepted or completed the transaction according to its own processing rules.

03

Recurring donations

Where recurring support is available, the amount and billing frequency should be shown before the donor confirms the recurring payment.

By activating recurring support, the donor authorizes the relevant payment provider to process future payments according to the selected schedule until the recurring arrangement is cancelled or otherwise ends.

A donor may request cancellation of future recurring donations through the available account/payment controls or by contacting HAVIKWAY where manual assistance is required.

CANCELLATION Cancelling recurring support stops future charges; it does not automatically reverse payments already completed.
04

Payment processing

HAVIKWAY may use independent payment service providers to process donations. Those providers may receive and process information required to authorize, settle, refund or administer the transaction.

Payment providers operate under their own terms, privacy notices, fraud controls and technical availability.

HAVIKWAY should not request or store full payment-card credentials where the payment provider is responsible for collecting those credentials directly.

05

Currency, conversion and transaction fees

The checkout page should identify the currency in which a donation is requested.

If a donor pays from an account using a different currency, their bank, card issuer or payment provider may apply its own exchange rate or conversion fee.

Payment-processing charges, banking charges or currency-conversion costs may affect the final amount paid by the donor or the net amount made available to the project.

06

How donated funds may be used

Unless a donation campaign expressly states a narrower purpose, funds may be used to support the HAVIKWAY project and expedition as a whole.

FIELD Expedition costs

Food, accommodation when required, transport logistics, permits, border and visa-related costs.

EQUIPMENT Walking & safety gear

Replacement equipment, navigation, communication, satellite and safety systems.

PLATFORM Website & communication

Hosting, technical infrastructure, live tracking, communications and documentation costs.

OPERATIONS Practical project needs

Administration, payment costs, media production and reasonable expedition-related operational expenses.

Actual priorities may change as the route, safety conditions, equipment needs, regulatory requirements and expedition circumstances evolve.

07

Errors, refunds and disputed payments

If a donation was made in error, duplicated, or appears unauthorized, contact HAVIKWAY as soon as reasonably possible.

Refund requests are assessed according to the circumstances, the status of the payment, the capabilities and rules of the payment provider, and any applicable legal requirements.

Because a donation is voluntary and may be put toward project costs after receipt, a refund is not guaranteed merely because a donor later changes their mind, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

08

Tax treatment and deductibility

HAVIKWAY does not represent through these terms that a donation is tax-deductible.

Tax treatment depends on the donor's jurisdiction, the legal status of the recipient, the nature of the contribution and applicable tax rules at the relevant time.

IMPORTANT Do not claim a tax deduction solely because the payment is described as a donation.

Where tax treatment matters, obtain appropriate current tax advice or verify the applicable rules.

09

Donor recognition and privacy

HAVIKWAY may offer optional recognition of supporters, for example through a supporter page, expedition update or acknowledgement.

Personal donor information should not be published automatically unless the donor has chosen or otherwise appropriately agreed to public recognition.

Anonymous or private support should remain private subject to records that HAVIKWAY or a payment provider must retain for operational, accounting, fraud-prevention or legal purposes.

10

Route changes, delays and project evolution

HAVIKWAY is a long-term real-world expedition. Routes, dates, destinations, methods, equipment and operational priorities may change because of borders, safety, health, weather, finances, permits or other circumstances.

A donation does not guarantee that a specific route, country, milestone, schedule or platform feature will be completed exactly as originally planned.

Funds may continue to support the broader HAVIKWAY purpose where reasonable adjustments to the expedition become necessary.

11

Fraud, abuse and suspicious transactions

HAVIKWAY or its payment providers may refuse, hold, cancel or investigate a payment where there is a reasonable concern about fraud, unauthorized use, sanctions, abuse, technical error or payment-security risk.

Information may be shared with the relevant payment provider or competent authority where this is legitimately required to investigate or respond to a suspicious transaction.

12

Donation questions

If you need help with a donation, recurring support, a suspected duplicate payment, cancellation or a refund request, contact HAVIKWAY with enough information to identify the transaction.

Do not send full card numbers, passwords or other unnecessary payment credentials through a normal contact form or email.

HAVIKWAY may use several forms of support. They should not be treated as interchangeable.

DONATION Voluntary support

Financial support without ownership, route control or an automatic right to a commercial benefit.

MEMBERSHIP Defined supporter access

A separate arrangement where specific benefits, access, price or recurring terms are shown before activation.

SPONSORSHIP Commercial relationship

A separately agreed relationship that may involve brand exposure, deliverables, products, services or contractual obligations.
